PHECC First Aid Responder Course

Course Aims and Objectives:

This 3 Day First Aid Responder Course delivers the HSA recognised standard of First Aid to those who are interested in becoming a First Aider. It revises the  knowledge, practical skills & understanding required to provide appropriate first-aid treatment in  the workplace in compliance with the requirements of the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (General Application) Regulations 2007; Part 7, Chapter 2: First Aid Training. We deliver First Aid Responder Training in Navan, Dublin and for groups Nationwide.

 On completion of this course, learners will be able to:

  • Recognise and Assess the causes and effects of sudden illness and/or injury in a pre-hospital environment and call for emergency medical services.
  • React to such pre-hospital emergencies
  • Respond in a safe, effective, and appropriate manner to such emergencies utilising the First Aid Response skill set.
  • Record and Report actions and interventions taken while responding to and managing such incidents and during handover to emergency medical services.
  • Retain a professional and caring attitude in their performance as First Aid Responders.

Training Methods:

This course is classroom based, delivered by a combination of theory lessons, practical skills and practice sessions. The CFR part of the course takes about 4-5 hours and is DVD led. The assessment will be skills based and a multiple-choice exam is designed to reinforce the knowledge and skills learnt on the course.

This course is specifically designed for those staff or individuals with an interest in becoming a qualified First-Aider.

  • Successful course participants will receive a First Aid Responder certificate. The certificate will expire after 2 years.
