IPAF is quickly becoming the preferred MEWP ticket required on many large construction sites in Ireland including Intel, Facebook and WuXi. This IPAF course teaches you how to safely operate Spider Lifts on tracks or wheels, van-mounted booms, truck-mounted booms or trailer-mounted booms.

Aims & Objectives
The aim of our 1-day Static Vertical 1b Course is to equip learners with the skills, knowledge & understanding to safely operate a Spider Lift, van-mounted boom or truck-mounted boom. On completion you will be able to:
- Safely operate a Spider Lift, van-mounted boom and truck-mounted boom using correct driving techniques
- Be aware of the legislation surrounding MEWPS and accident prevention
- Refuel & recharge a Spider Lift safely and complete pre use inspections
- Understand stability and operating capabilities
Flexible Delivery Options
We offer 3 options for completing this course:
- Spend the day at our training centre where you will complete both the theory and practical sessions
- Complete the E-learning* theory session at home or in your workplace and spend only ½ a day at our training centre to complete the practical session
- For ultimate convenience complete the E-learning theory session followed by the practical session at your site. The theory session can also be delivered on your site subject to the availability of a training room.
* IPAF operator eLearning does not replace practical training. Trainees who complete the online theory session must pass a supervised theory test - within 45 days of the theory test being completed before being issued with a PAL Card as proof of successful operator training.
Certification
Successful delegates will receive an IPAF ePAL Card valid for 5 years.
Where is the facility?
National Training Solutions, Kells Road, Navan, Co Meath C15 FX6Y. On-site training is also available anywhere in Ireland. The relevant machinery must be available on site for training.

This course is ideal for everyone over 16 years old who needs to work at height using a spider lift, van or truck mounted boom. Including construction workers, painters, electricians, roofers, window cleaners, window installers, tree surgeons, maintenance workers. Anyone in a trade seeking to upskill.
Additional Information
Candidates must be at least 16 years of age and medically fit to operate machinery.
Trainees must have the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment with them to operate the Spider Lift
- Helmet, Safety Boots, Hi-Visibility Vest, Facemask, Harness & Adjustable Restraint Lanyard.

What is a Spider Lift?
A Spider Lift is a type of machinery used to elevate workers in a safe and controlled way. Spider lifts can be on tracks or wheels, van-mounted, truck-mounted or trailer-mounted. Unlike some lifts, Some Spider Lifts can be operated on uneven ground and give a lot more flexibility and reach than a Scissors Lift. Operators must have certification to hire and operate a Spider Lift.
What is MEWP Training?
Mobile Elevating Work Platforms are a variety of machinery which lift workers safely to perform their work at height. Examples are Scissors Lifts, Boom Lifts and Spider Lifts. MEWP Training and certification is required for operating this machinery safely and legally.
Do you need an IPAF PAL card for a Spider Lift?
Yes, a PAL card is required for each specific type of MEWP. This includes Scissors Lifts, Boom Lifts and Spider Lifts among others.
