IPAF 3a 3b Training Course
IPAF is quickly becoming the preferred MEWP ticket required on many large construction sites in Ireland including Intel, Facebook and WuXi. This IPAF course teaches you how to safely operate Scissors Lifts and Boom Lifts.
This is a 1-day course which includes both theory & practical learning – IPAF certs are valid for 5 years and are issued within 14 days of completing the course.

Aims & Objectives
The aim of this 1-day IPAF 3a & 3b Course is to equip learners with the skills, knowledge & understanding to safely operate Scissors and Boom lifts. On completion you will be able to:
- Safely operate an MEWP using correct driving techniques
- Be aware of the legislation surrounding MEWPS and accident prevention
- Refuel & recharge a Scissors Lift safely and understand pre use inspections
- Understand stability and operating capabilities
Certification
Successful delegates will receive an IPAF ePAL Card valid for 5 years.

Who Should Attend?
This course is ideal for anyone over 16 years old who needs to work at a height such as: construction workers, painters, electricians, roofers, window cleaners, window installers, tree surgeons, maintenance workers. Anyone in a trade seeking to upskill.
Additional Information
Candidates must be at least 16 years of age and medically fit to operate machinery.
Trainees must have the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment with them to operate the MEWPs/Cherry Picker
- Helmet, Safety Boots, Hi-Visibility Vest, Facemask, Harness & Adjustable Restraint Lanyard.

FAQs - IPAF Training
- IPAF certification is recognized in many countries including Canada and Australia.
- IPAF is a 5 year UK certification whereas MEWP is a 3 year Irish certification.
- MEWP Certification meets HSA requirements (which includes the required training to be done every 3 years, not every 5 years).
- MEWP Certification is a shorter course which means you can complete Working at Heights training on the same day.
Our IPAF course gives the benefit of Dual Certification - HSA compliant MEWP Certification and IPAF PAL certification. This means you are fully compliant to work on any site in Ireland as well as many other countries.
