Slings & Hoists

Course Aim:

Health and Safety pc repairThis course is typically tailored to the learners needs, based on the nature of work they undertake in their work environment. It will give learners the information & awareness on the safe use of sling & hoists as part of their normal work duties.

Course Objectives:

On completion of this course, the learners will;

  • Be aware of the employers & employees duties under current health & safety legislation
  • Operate a sling & hoist safely
  • Conduct safety checks on slings & hoists
  • Understand the responsibilities of the person using slings & hoists
  • Identify possible workplace hazards (e.g. Overhead cables)

Course Programme:

  • Duties imposed under current health & safety legislation in relation to operating slings & hoists
  • Explanation, demonstration & practice in the correct procedures to adopt when operating slings & hoists
  • Pre-use safety checks / inspection
  • Safe operating practices
  • Correct Personal Protective Equipment selection, inspection & correct use

Training Methods:

Classroom presentation on power-point; There is a short demonstration by our experienced instructor. A prctical element of the course can also be included where training is taking place on site.

Those who operate Slings & Hoists as part of their normal work activities.

Additional Information:

  • Maximum of 6 - 8 learners

Learners must bring with them their own Personal Protective Equipment. (i.e. Overalls, helmet, high visibility jacket & safety footwear)
