This course is typically tailored to the learners needs, based on the nature of work they undertake in their work environment. It will give learners the information & awareness on the safe use of sling & hoists as part of their normal work duties.
Course Aims and Objectives:
On completion of this course, the learners will;
- Be aware of the employers & employees duties under current health & safety legislation
- Operate a sling & hoist safely
- Conduct safety checks on slings & hoists
- Understand the responsibilities of the person using slings & hoists
- Identify possible workplace hazards (e.g. Overhead cables)
Course Programme:
- Duties imposed under current health & safety legislation in relation to operating slings & hoists
- Explanation, demonstration & practice in the correct procedures to adopt when operating slings & hoists
- Pre-use safety checks / inspection
- Safe operating practices
- Correct Personal Protective Equipment selection, inspection & correct use
Training Methods:
Classroom presentation on power-point; There is a short demonstration by our experienced instructor. A prctical element of the course can also be included where training is taking place on site.

Those who operate Slings & Hoists as part of their normal work activities.
Additional Information:
- Maximum of 6 - 8 learners
Learners must bring with them their own Personal Protective Equipment. (i.e. Overalls, helmet, high visibility jacket & safety footwear)
