Course Aim:
The aim of this 1 day (experienced) or 3 day (new entrant) course is to equip learners with the skills, knowledge & understanding for to be a competent Signaller/Slinger/Banksman.
Course Objectives:
On completion of this course the learners will be;
- Aware of the current Health & Safety Legislation as it applies to Signaller/Slinger/Banksman.
- Able to use & understand hand signals as they apply to Slingers, Signallers & Banksmen.
- Able to guide & select appropriate lifting equipment.
- Able to recognise hazards & risks associated with blind lifts.
Course Programme:
- Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005.
- Employers & Employees legal duties under current Health & Safety Legislation.
- Identify workplace hazards regarding Slinger/Signaller.
- Understand the principles for the correct selection of Lifting Equipment.
- Identify & apply the full range of Slinging & Signaller methods.
- Apply & Understand Signaller/Signaller Operations.
Training Methods:
Classroom based presentation on power-point. Learners can practice lifting operations & using hand signals.
Who Should Attend?
Those employees who are responsible for or in control of all lifting equipment.
Additional Information:
- Maximum of 4 learners.
- 1 or 3 Days (See above).
- SOLAS CSCS Identity Card & FETAC certification will be awarded to those who successfully complete & pass this two day course.
- Learners must have an up to date Safe Pass Card & their own PPE (e.g. Safety Footwear etc….).

- Non experienced learners must have at least 3 months experience on a site (Not slinging/signalling).
- Non experienced learners must be at least 18 years of age.
