Our two day CSCS Location of Underground Services course aims to ensure learners are competent to plan, organise, manage & undertake work, where there is a risk of contact with underground energy sources or services using cable avoidance tools & signal generators.

Course Objectives:
On completion of this course the learners will;
- Understand the types of services & hazards likely to be encountered when breaking ground
- Learn to use Cable Avoidance Tools & Signal Generators (CAT & GENNY) to locate, pinpoint & trace underground services
- Understand the practice of “Safe Digging” when undertaking Excavations or Trial holes
- Demonstrate ability to safely conduct activities in accordance with legislation & the HSA Approved Code of Practice for “Avoiding Danger from Underground Services”

- Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005
- HSA Approved Code of Practice for “Avoiding Danger from Underground Services”
- Risk Assessment – Safe Systems of Work – Planning the Work
Training Methods:
Classroom based presentation on power-point with some practical experience of locating underground services.
Who Should Attend?
Those employees (i.e. Managers, supervisors & operatives) who are required to plan, organise, manage or undertake work, where there is a risk of contact with hazardous underground energy sources or services.

- SOLAS CSCS Identity Card & FETAC certification will be awarded to those who successfully complete & pass this two day course
- Learners must have an up to date Safe Pass Card & their own PPE (e.g. Safety Footwear etc.)
