Our CSCS Sign Lighting and Guarding course is designed to train course participants to be competent to plan, organise, direct and manage the safe flow of traffic through roadworks, with the minimum of delay & risk to other road users. This training is mandatory under the Safety Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006.

Course Aims and Objectives:
On completion of this course the learners will;
- Be aware of the relevant health & safety legislation as it applies to Signing, Lighting & Guarding
- Be aware of the duties of the Employer & Employee under the Safety, Health & Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Be able to describe signs & devices used on roadworks – Static & semi-static operations
- Be able to list the requirements for the installation of traffic management
- Have read & be able to describe the traffic layouts set out in current health & safety legislation
- Be able to install, maintain & remove signs & devices used on roadworks
- Have the skills needed to create & maintain site records
Course Programme:
- Safety, Health & Welfare at Work (Construction) Regulations 2006
- Signing, Lighting & Guarding - Plant & Machinery – Emergency Procedures
- Short Written Exam
Training Methods:
Classroom based presentation. Approximately half of this course will be carried out on road practical.
Who Should Attend?
Those staff who undertake work on or near road works as part of their normal work duties.

- Groups of 4 or 8 learners
- 3 Days
- SOLAS CSCS Identity Card & QQI certification will be awarded to those who successfully complete & pass this one day course
- Learners must have an up to date Safe Pass Card & their own PPE (e.g. Safety Footwear etc….), and 9 months experience in past 2 years
